The hind limbs or the legs also have three bones each.
Femur or the thigh bone is the longest bone in the
body. The lower leg has two bones called tibia and
fibula. The ankle and toes also have many small bones.
The Girdles
The forelimbs and the hind limbs are attached to the
girdles. The forelimbs or arms are attached to the
pectoral girdle. Pectoral girdle consists of shoulder
blades and collar bone.
The hind limbs or the legs are attached to the pelvic
girdle. The kidneys and the urinary bladder are

protected by the pelvic girdle.
JOINTS AND LIGAMENTS
The most of bones are connected to other bones. The place where two bones
join together is called a joint . Strong bands of tissue called ligaments hold the
bones together in a joint. Ligaments are strong but they can let your bones
move.
Types of Joints
There are two main types of joints in our body :
Immovable Joints
These joints simply connect the bones. They do not

Movable Joints
These joints allow full movement of bones.
There are four types of movable joints :
w Hinge joint w Ball and socket joint
w Pivot joint w Gliding joint
