                    ANIMALS AND THEIR HABITATS
Various animals live in different places. Animals

are found almost everywhere— in hot places like
deserts, in very cold places like polar regions, in

deep oceans, on the mountains and even in the
air. Animals have some special body parts that are
suited for the place they live in.

Types of HabitatsTypes of HabitatsTypes of Habitats

An area where a particular animal naturally lives is called its habitat. The
animal's habitat provides it with air, water, food and shelter. The home of an

animal is within its habitat. For example, a lion's home is the den and the
                    forest is its habitat.

Different animals need various conditions to live

and have chosen different habitats for themselves.
There are five main habitats on our planet earth,

that are forests , deserts , polar regions , mountains
(snow) and oceans and freshwater bodies (like
river, lakes, ponds etc.). Let us study each of them

                    Forest in detail.
A forest is a large area that is covered by trees and plants.
Forests provide shelter to a large variety of animals.

Animals such as lion, bear, and tiger live in caves. Many
forest animals live on trees (e.g. : monkeys and birds).
