Christmas trees are decorated. It is believed that Santa Claus brings
gifts for the children on this day.
GURUPURAB
Gurupurabs are the birthdays of the Sikh
gurus. On these days people go to the
Gurudwara and pray to their holy book
Guru Granth Sahib.
In Gurudwaras, people eat together from a common kitchen called
langar.
Birthday Wedding SPECIAL DAYS
Some other days like
birthdays and weddings
are celebrated in the
families. These are called
family functions.
OUR NATIONAL FESTIVALS
The festivals that are celebrated by the entire nation are called
National Festivals:
In India, we celebrate three national festivals:
1. Independence Day
Independence Day is celebrated on 15th
August every year. On this day, our country
became independent from the British rule.
2. Republic Day
Republic Day is celebrated on 26th
January every year. On this day, our
country became a republic.
